The Seattle Aquarium is one of the best places to visit on your vacation to Seattle. Originally owned by the city of Seattle, the aquarium was taken over by the Seattle Aquarium Society in 2010. In 2007, three years prior to new management, the aquarium added a massive expansion of over 18,000 square feet. Of course, this just isn’t any aquarium it is home to some of the most impressive aquatic exhibits in the world. As the nation’s 9th largest aquarium and one of the most popular the Seattle Aquarium is a must see.

Exhibits

      • Window on Washington Waters

This exhibit is home to an impressive 120,000 gallon water tank that replicates the habitat of the Washington waters that surround Seattle. Native marine life fills the tank and divers regularly perform shows and interact with the audience up-close.

      • Life on the Edge

Children and parents alike can get their hands dirty in Seattle’s one of a kind Puget Sound tide pool exhibit. You can reach in a touch creatures like the Sea Cucumber, hermit crabs, and star fish. If you wish to know more about the animals that inhabit the pool there is always a marine biology expert close by.

      • Pacific Coral Reef

Once again, Seattle’s Aquarium takes the cake by housing a 25,000 gallon tank that is home to one of the most unique man made coral reefs ever created. This wrap-around exhibit showcases some of the most beautiful marine animals in the Pacific, and also gives visitors the perfect view of the beauty within.

      • Underwater Dome

One exhibit you cannot miss is the Underwater Dome. The dome lies deep in the heart of a 400,000 gallon water tank home to hundreds of native Puget Sound sea creatures. Schools of salmon and native fish roam these waters for visitors to enjoy and learn about. Divers feed the fish and answer questions from visitors of the museum while doing so, which is the perfect interactive treat for any family.
