If you thought that San Francisco was a busy city with no place for nature and natural environment, then its time you give it a second thought. The Botanical Garden of the city will offer a learning experience through various species of plants that will leave you completely awestruck. The park is located in a 55 acre piece of land inside the Golden Gate Park.

More than 50,000 plants are categorized in numerous divisions for the visitors. It mostly includes Mediterranean, Mild Temperate and Montane Tropic plants. There are also some distinctive specialty collections of plants like the Ancient Plant Garden, the Rhododendron Garden, Exhibition Garden, Garden of Fragrance, Succulent Garden and Dry Mexico collection. The best part of this collection is that no green houses are used in order to make alien species survive here. They thrive in the natural climate in open spaces and receive as much sun and rain like the other wild species of the area.

The garden is open throughout the year and you can even visit this place on holidays. In fact, Thanksgiving and New Year day is absolutely free. If you come here on the second Tuesday of each month, then too you would get free admission. This fee is only for the non-residents. If you live in any part of San Francisco, you will get free entry here. There are many flowers that will grab your attention along with the Redwood Trail which is ideal for a quite walk amongst the huge trees. You can find a peaceful and natural getaway in the city.

Botanical GardenThe 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month has been declared as a Family Sunday. You can come here with your whole family to learn about the relationship of humans and plants. Then you can go on a guided tour, also called the Family Garden Walk. If you are interested in gardening and taking home exotic plant species that would not be found in any nurseries of the city, then you can participate in the monthly plant sales event as well. Apart from this monthly event for special plants, there is also a daily plant sale for the visitors. You will not only learn about the fantastic plants here but can also take them home and it serves as an added advantage.
