It's been said that the sport of racing was created from the moment the second automobile was built. That racing tradition can be seen in full display at the Simeone Automotive Museum. Located in Philadelphia, there are over 60 vehicles on display in this museum that represent where each of the vehicles were seen racing. Illustrating the development of racing in the United States and around the world, if you love race cars, then you'll want to see the collection that is at this fantastic museum.

It's the Dream of a Working Class Kid Realized

Dr. Frederick Simeone started collecting automobiles nearly five decades ago to help realize the dream that he and his father shared. His father, who was also a physician, worked hard to care for his patients and that work ethic became part of the Simeone legacy. Beginning the collection when he was just a teenager, you'll be able to see racing automobiles in the museum that date back to 1909. Tickets for the museum are currently $12 each and if ordered online, a $4.95 processing order applies. If you love automobiles, however, the admission price is a small price to pay to see this great collection.

More Than a Museum, the Simeone Collection Tells a Story

Rather than just be a large collection of cool looking race cars, the Simeone Collection tells a story about how race cars have been able to evolve and adapt just as nature has been able to do so. The story begins in the days when production cars were initially raced to determine which manufacturer was superior to the others and winds its way through the 60+ vehicles to the new and exotic platforms that have developed for modern racing. Rather than search for these vehicles on the auction block, this collection was put together privately, through a lot of research and even more good luck.

Feel Like a Winner in the Winner's Circle!

One of the most unique aspects of the Simeone Museum is the Winner's Circle exhibit. Home to five racing cars and their championship wreaths, you'll be able to see the exact car that won the race listed on the display. These vehicles were chosen because they represent the very best of cutting edge designs and engineering techniques that were utilized in their era. From the '58 Aston Martin DB1 to the '37 Bugatti 57G that is lovingly known as a “Tank,” you'll be able to set your eyes on some history when you spend some time in Simeone's Winner's Circle.
