Florida is home to many recreational centers, theme parks and other forms of outdoor entertainment. Although Disney World resides in the Sunshine State, there's another theme park in town considered more friendly for families and individuals of all ages.
The Universal Orlando Resort, or more affectionately Universal Orlando, is one of Florida's many famous theme park resorts located within sunny Orlando, Florida. It's the largest property operated by the Universal Parks and Resorts subsidiary, also considered the largest resort in the Orlando area.
Despite Disney World's iron-clad fist over the theme park popularity contest in the region, Universal Orlando Resort has its own strengths making it a better choice over the aforementioned famous Florida theme park. Universal Orlando Resort itself is comprised of Universal Studios Florida and the Islands of Adventure. The resort also hosts an incredible night-time entertainment complex, not to mention three Loews hotels—the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Royal Pacific Resort, in addition to the Hard Rock Hotel.
The main and most famous portion of Universal Orlando Resort happens to be Universal Studios Florida. The studios themselves are known for holding media productions and several other tapings for even more television programs and films. Most visitors, however, immediately head over to the park, where there's plenty of rides to hop on and many other attractions to take in once you arrive there. Visitors will have the chance to check out various themed recreational and dining options, oft themed after the work that takes place within the studios here.
Universal Studios Florida has a theme park that lets all visitors 'ride the movies.' In other words, the rides here are designed to make these visitors feel like they're an actual character on an actual movie set or show. There's plenty of rides here with themes and/or motifs derived from many famous entertainment properties like Harry Potter, Marvel superheroes and Jurassic Park. The six portions of the theme park itself consist of San Francisco, World Expo, Production Central, New York, Hollywood and Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone.
The entirety of Universal Orlando Resort isn't just dedicated to Universal Studios—there's also other parts of the resort people attend and even flood each summer. The Islands of Adventure is a true adventure through several of the aforementioned entertainment properties, hosted on several themed islands visitors can travel. Visitors generally start from the Port of Entry and cruise through the many islands available there, including the newly added 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.'
