Experience, Create, Enjoy: At The Children’s Museum of Manhattan
While visiting New York City with little ones, be sure to check out the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. With 5 floors packed to the gills with stunning displays and hands on activities this is sure to be a family favorite. There is a small admission fee to get in ($11 for adults and kids over 1 year) but for that price you get a full day’s worth of educational fun.
The Children’s Museum of Manhattan works closely with area schools. They are so involved with community education that they have 50 outreach locations throughout New York and the Museum is closed to the general public on most Monday’s so that schools have exclusive time for activities and tours. So if you are in town during the week, make sure to plan your trip to the Museum any day except Monday.
Through exhibits, classes, workshops and performances the museum has four areas of focus. The first is early childhood education and preparing young children for school. The second is creativity in art and science. The third is healthy lifestyles, a very hot topic today for kids and adults alike. And the fourth topic they focus on is exploring world cultures. There is something for kids (and adults) of all ages in this friendly and safe environment.
For encouraging expanding young minds there is an emphasis on hands on activities and pretend play at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. They bring the joy of creative discovery to each child that walks through the door. Many of the exhibits feature popular scenes and characters from children’s literature, TV and movies to help engage the children. The staff is assertive and friendly. The exhibits and classes are always changing so that you never have the same exact experience twice. World renowned artists and musicians perform and hold workshops at the museum as well so check out their website and see what events are happening during your next planned vacation!
