New Orleans is a gorgeous city, and City Park in New Orleans is one of the most beautiful parks in the Nation. In fact, the park is a staggering 1,300 acres in space making it the 6th largest public park in the United States, and it is also only the 7th most visited. There are several attractions laid out throughout the park that families and couples alike will enjoy experiencing.

The Botanical Gardens

New Orleans City Park holds over 2,000 different plants from all over the world that take up 12 acres of the entire park. In addition to different flowers and plants, the gardens are home to 600 year old oaks, some of the oldest in that nation. The botanical garden also includes aquatic plants in various ponds throughout the garden. Scattered throughout the garden are roses, perennials, and relaxing fountains for all to enjoy.

Carousel Gardens Amusement Park

That’s right this city park has an amusement park! People of all ages enjoy the 15 rides in this small amusement park. The namesake for the park is a carousel built in 1906 that is still in use today. Locals affectionately call the carousel the ‘flying horses’. Admission to the park is $3 and you can either pay per ride or pay $17 for unlimited rides.


With over 1,300 acres to fill the city park built an exquisite golf course. Originally only 9 holes, the golf course today has expanded to a full 18-hole golf course for adults to enjoy. The course comes complete with a 36-stall driving range.


Perfect for children of all ages, storyland is a place where fairytales come to life. With over 25 life size sculptures for children to play on and enjoy this park is one of a kind. Visitors remark that walking through storyland reminds them of Disney Land and has a charm all its own.

Pepsi Tennis Center

If you love to play tennis then you will love the 26 fully lit tennis courts that line the Pepsi Tennis center adjacent to City Park. The center also is home to several tournament games throughout the year, so even if you don’t like to play you can enjoy watching the pros.
