Simply walking up to the entrance of the LA County Museum of Art can be breath taking. The seven building complex that make up the museum aren’t the only impressive sight to see outside but also many art exhibits including the “Urban Light” exhibit that has been used for the backdrop in movies such as “No Strings Attached” starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. Such a grand entrance lets you know that you are entering the largest art museum in the western United States.

The LA County Museum of Art will fascinate people of all ages with the variety of its huge inventory. The art museum holds not only drawings, paintings, sculptures and photography, but many other forms of art such as architecture, arms and armor, costumes, jewelry and manuscripts. The Museum contains over 150,000 works of art stretched over 20 acres. Some of the works of art date from as far back as 10,000 BC while others are from today’s artists.

The LA County Museum of Art won’t only interest the history buffs or art lovers. The museum has several programs made especially to peak children’s interest, as well, including a daily program. Every day kids can learn new ways to make art in the Boone Children’s Gallery and of course all the material needed for the program is provided by the museum for free. At the LA County Museum of Art, children 18 years and younger are free every day all year round, making the museum a great and inexpensive attraction for families.

Another reason millions of people are attracted to the LA County Museum of Art each year is due to the fact that the art featured is from all around the world. There is art from cultures in Africa, Europe, Greece, Asia, India and many other cultures. The museum also brings in special exhibits that travel the world.

A whole day can be planned when planning a visit to the museum. There is a restaurant, café and bar located in the museum. Like many museums, there are also stores with souvenirs located on site. The museum has free self-parking with free charging stations for electric cars. There is also valet parking available for a small fee.
