You should visit Garfield Park Conservatory any time of the year to see the beauty of the world, explore nature, and learn what it means to all of us.
Garfield Park Conservatory boasts 6 greenhouses and 2 Grand Exhibition halls that include several rooms for rental. Weddings and reunions are often celebrated here and businesses can have special meetings and events at the Conservatory.
Please note that groups of more than 10 people must register at least one week in advance to assure there is ample space and staff to accommodate the group as this Conservatory is first come, first serve more often than not.
Children and their families can enjoy the world of nature even in the confines of the 6 greenhouses in the summer months as well as during the depths of winter. Garfield Park is open daily from 9 to 5; Wednesday from 9 to 8. It is open most days except for mandatory shut down days as required by the city park system. Admission is free, but they do accept donations to help keep it free for everyone. Parking is also free and located near the Conservatory entrance. Most of the facility is wheelchair accessible, except for the Fern Room.
Garfield Park offers various educational programs for kids and their parents or teachers to enjoy together. Visit Elizabeth Morse Genius Children’s Garden for these special opportunities.
Kids may enjoy a day at the Conservatory to celebrate a birthday. Parties are welcome and room rentals are available. Currently there are no planned events or staff available to aid with a party, but the rooms are available.
There are guided and unguided tours available. Groups of 10 or more people must pre-register, preferably at least 3 weeks in advance. One week before the expected day of your tour is considered a late registration which will result in a slight increase in costs. No Field trips opportunities are available on Mondays. Self-guided tours are free with some activities to increase the learning value:
- Conservatory Eye Spy: free for all ages
- Scavenger Hunt of the Month: free for all ages
Other field trips and scavenger hunts have fees for groups of up to 15 kids. The fee covers an exploratory kit that includes a backpack, guidebook, maps and touchable items. Early registration costs $25 per kit; late costs $35 per kit.
