Are you taking the family on a trip to the Boston area and want to experience something new and different? Then check out the Museum of Science in Boston. The museum literally has tons of exhibits, many of which are interactive and great for the kids. The museum originally opened in 1830 as the Boston Museum of Natural History but is now a Science museum designed to both educate and entertain. Thirty permanent exhibits and hundreds of other temporary exhibits are showcased every year making this museum one of the greatest in the nation.
The focus of the Museum of Science is primarily educating children and adults about sciences’ place in all over our lives, but it does so in a uniquely entertaining way. In addition to the amazing exhibits that include a live animal presentation, the museum also is home to a planetarium and an IMAX 3-D theatre. The theatre plays educational IMAX movies made specifically for the purpose of educating in an informative and magical way. The 3-D movies played at the Boston Museum are also primarily made to enhance the understanding of the world around us. 3-D films about the living environment are a regular part of the museum’s entertainment, and are a great way to spend the afternoon.
If you enjoy more exciting and interactive events then you will love the live presentations the museum offers. These live presentations include an indoor presentation of lightning bolts and a presentation of the science behind magic, but there are many more to experience if you have the time. The exhibits and live presentations do rotate and change, so be sure and check the schedule before you head out so you can plan which ones you want to see.
No matter what your family enjoys doing or what part of science they want to see they will thoroughly enjoy themselves at the Boston Museum of Science. It is one of the largest and most interactive museums in the world, and will no doubt be a stimulating experience for your whole family.
