One thing I really love is a fun festival. Festivals are usually an affordable way to see your city and have a mini staycation. The city of Chicago has quite a few fun events lined up for the next few months.

Chicago Food Truck Fest - June 7, 2014

This festival takes places in and around U.S. Cellular Field. For this event, you do have to buy both admission tickets and pay for parking (if you arrive in a car). However, the $25 VIP tickets cover both some drinks and parking, so you should look into that as well.

At the Chicago Food Truck Fest, you will get to try many amazing tasting food truck dishes and hear live music as well. I love food from food trucks, so, this is like paradise to me. Some of the amazing food trucks that will be attending the Chicago Food Truck Fest include: The Fat Shallot, Chicago Pizza Boss, Cheesies Truck, Jack's Fork in the Road, Chicago Cupcake and more.

Chicago Blues Festival - June 13-15, 2014

This event takes place in Grant Park, and it is free. This festival is the biggest no-cost blues festival in the world, and attracts visitors from all over. It is also one of Chicago's largest music festivals each year.

The lineup for this year's Chicago Blues Festival include: Aaron Neville, Billy Boy Arnold, Matthew Skoller, Bettye Lavette, Otis Taylor, Sam Lay, Vance Kelly, Vick Allen, Willie Clayton, and Kenny Smith.

Independence Day Fireworks - July 4, 2014

Independence Day fireworks begin on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 9:30 p.m. at the Navy Pier. These fireworks last for around 15 minutes and are said to be one of the best Independence Day fireworks shows in the United States.

You can see them from many parts of the area surrounding the Navy Pier, so you do not have to be at the Navy Pier directly to enjoy the fireworks show.

Taste of Chicago - July 9-13, 2014

This event takes place in Grant Park, and it's a ton of fun! Approximately 2,000,000 people attend the Taste of Chicago each year to try out all of Chicago's amazing dishes from many of Chicago's most popular restaurants. You can try deep dish pizza, famous Chicago hotdogs, many different types of desserts, and more.

When you first enter the festival, you can buy strips of tickets to pay for your food. Admission is free but you will need tickets to buy for food and drinks (you cannot buy food directly with cash from the vendors). Different dishes are worth different amounts, so you can kind of stroll around to see how many tickets you need.

Chinatown Summer Fair - July 20, 2014

This festival is located at Wentworth Ave from Cermak Rd to 24th Place. This is a fun outdoor Chinatown festival that gets more than 40,000 visitors each year.

This festival celebrates all things from the Far East - food, drinks, history, crafts, and music. Also, there will be many forms of Chinese entertainment and traditions, such as: the exciting Lion Dance procession, martial arts demonstrations, and more.

Lollapalooza - August 1-3, 2014

This event takes place in Grant Park. This is a music festival that attracts people from all over the United States. Lollapalooza shows over 100 different music groups playing hip hop, metal, and rock music.

The lineup for music this year includes: Eminem, Kings of Leon, Calvin Harris, Lorde, Arctic Monkeys, Foster the People, Outkast, Zedd, Skrillex, Nas and, Krewella.

Chicago Air & Water Show - August 16 and 17, 2014

Many areas are cutting air and water shows out of their budget, but you can still catch the fun and entertaining annual Chicago Air & Water Show. It is held along Lake Michigan in Chicago, and it is one of the most popular festivals in the city of Chicago, with over 2 million people watching each and every year. This event is free as well, making it affordable for everyone to attend.

At the Chicago Air & Water Show, you will watch daredevils, military, civilians, and others doing tricks in the air and in the water.

What festival do you plan on trying to attend?
