Zoo Atlanta is one of the oldest zoo’s in America. It is also one of only four zoos in the states to house Pandas. In fact, two Panda bears reside in Zoo Atlanta have recently produced twin Panda bears which is a delight for visitors. If you are heading to Atlanta this is a must see spot to visit.

The zoo has four separate areas that include an African Plain section, The Ford African Rain Forest, Asian forest, and the Kid zone. The kid zone includes a petting zoo, rides, and various exotic birds and wildlife. Right next to the kid zone there is also the Flamingo Plaza where you and the family can watch flamingos roam wild. If you feel like conquering your fears you can also take advantage of a rock climbing wall.

The African Plains section of the park is home to zebras, black rhino’s, lions, elephants, giraffe’s (which includes a giraffe feeding station where you can literally feed the giraffes), warthogs, meerkats, and bongos. As you move further on you will discover several different animals in the Ford African Rain Forest. The world’s most well known gorilla, Willie B. has offspring who reside in the zoo and are kept in this part of the park. In fact, Zoo Atlanta is home to the largest collection of lowland gorillas in all of the United States and North America.

The Asian Rain Forest section of the zoo is home to Orangutans, Otters, reptiles, bears, and Asian tigers. An extensive and impressive World of Reptiles complex was built right in the middle of the Asian Rain Forest area and is a part of the zoo you must check out. Of course, right next door to the reptiles is the Giant Panda complex which is the most popular exhibit in the zoo.

If you want to do something both educational and entertaining during your trip to Atlanta, then go check out Zoo Atlanta. There is something for everyone in this medium sized zoo, and you will surely be pleased with the selection of animals that reside there.
